Parent Management Training (PMT): Theory to Practice

About This Event

The program begins with a strong foundation by introducing the concept, origin, variations, and evidence base of PMT, along with its practical challenges and limitations.

Participants will then explore the core behavioural principles, including the ABC model of behaviour (Antecedents, Behaviour, Consequences), shaping, chaining, and other key concepts essential for effective intervention. As the workshop progresses, participants will be trained in a step-by-step PMT session framework (Sessions 1–12).

By the end of the program, participants will:

  • Develop a clear understanding of Parent Management Training
  • Gain practical skills to apply PMT techniques with clients
  • Learn the complete session-wise structure of PMT interventions
  • Effectively manage challenging child behaviours
  • Build competence in an evidence-based therapeutic approach

This workshop is ideal for psychology students, aspiring therapists, counsellors, and professionals seeking practical, skill-based training in child behaviour management.
